The salary inspection is a programme in which teams of officers visit selected Government establishments to inspect their records and ascertain whether or not they are complying with Government pay policy and that the staff remuneration rates applied by them are duly approved.
Where infractions are found such establishments are directed in writing to stop the wrongful practices. The salary inspection programme also helps to identify agencies that had, through the back door, brought in outsourced or other staff into their payroll. It also helps in curbing recruitment/replacement without waivers by treasury-funded establishments which normally leads to an unwarranted increase in the wage bill.
Furthermore, it assists in discovering the inclusion of some unapproved allowances in the pay package of some treasury-funded establishments which have enrolled into the IPPIS platform
